Robert Sidney Ladds SSC is an English bishop who served as Suffragan Bishop of Whitby from 1999 to 2008.[1] He was born on 15 November 1941 and educated at Canterbury Christ Church University.[2] Ordained in 1981[3] he began his career with a curacy in Hythe, Kent[4] and was then successively Chaplain to the Bishop of Blackburn, Vicar of Bretherton, Rector of Preston and finally (before his elevation to the Episcopate) Archdeacon of Lancaster. A keen gardener[5] he was a Chemistry Teacher at Borden Grammar School, Sittingbourne before becoming a clergyman. He is the current Superior-General of the Society of Mary.
